Past +9 an item is upgraded at the Chaos Goblin, first tab. The box takes the item, one Jewel of Chaos and the same number of Bless and Soul, and the step goes up by one level at a time.

A Luck option on the item adds 25%. A Talisman of Luck adds 1% each, up to 10 of them - put in more and the mix will not run at all.
A failed mix burns everything in the box. A Chaos Amulet saves the item, but it comes back at +0.

The site upgrades items in your bank instead, for Epic Coins and the same jewels. A Luck option changes nothing here, and a failed attempt costs the price but leaves the item alone.
