Fruit system
Permanent stat points that no reset can take away.
A fruit is a consumable that raises one of your character's stats for good. There are five of them, one per stat, and a fruit tells you which stat it belongs to by its icon rather than by its name - all five are called the same thing in the inventory.
Right click a fruit and it is used straight away. The old window asking whether you want to add or take points back is gone; what comes back instead is a message saying how many points went in and where.
What a fruit gives
A fruit that works adds between 4 and 10 points to its stat. It can also fail, and a failed fruit is spent all the same. The chance of it working drops as that stat fills up, and the exact steps are in the table below.
Each stat has its own budget of fruit points and they do not share: filling Strength takes nothing away from what Energy can still hold. The Character window shows how much of each budget you have used.
Points that survive a reset
Fruit points are not free stat points sitting in a pool. They are added on top of your character's own stats, and a reset, a master reset or a stat redistribution leaves them exactly where they are. Everything the fruits gave you, you keep.
The other side of that is that nothing gives them back. Fruit Reset items do not work on this server and a fruit cannot be used in reverse, so a point put into the wrong stat stays in the wrong stat. Decide before you click.
What a fruit needs
- Level 10 or higher.
- Nothing worn. Every equipped item has to come off before a fruit will do anything.
- Command belongs to the Dark Lord alone, so only a Dark Lord can use that fruit.
Where fruits come from
Fruits do not drop from monsters. They come from two places.
The Chaos Machine makes them: a Jewel of Chaos and a Jewel of Creation together with 3 000 000 zen produce one fruit at a 90% chance, and the stat it turns out to be is random. A Talisman of Luck raises that chance the way it does for any other mix.
The quest chain hands them out as well - every fifteenth quest pays one, forty over the six hundred - and they come round in order, so the chain gives eight fruits of every stat. Which quests exactly is on the quest chain page.
The Chaos Machine also takes fruits back the other way: three Command fruits and 1 000 000 zen turn into one fruit of one of the other four stats, always. That is what the Command fruits are for if your character is not a Dark Lord.
In the inventory fruits stack up to 50 to a slot, and each of the five stacks on its own.
