MU Helper

The built-in assistant: how to start it, how to set it up and what it costs.

MU Helper plays your character for you: it attacks monsters, casts skills, drinks potions, picks up drops and walks back to the spot if it strays. The game has to be running - this is not offline mode.

Turning it on

The helper buttons
The helper buttons

The helper is available from level 80. Its buttons sit in the top left corner, on the bar showing the map name and your coordinates: the wrench opens the settings window and the orange triangle starts the helper, turning into a pause button while it runs.

Without the mouse: the Home key or a middle click on the game field, either of which toggles the helper. End does the same as Home, and Z opens the settings window.

It will not start in a safe zone, on maps where the helper is disabled, or while offline mode is running.

The window has three tabs: Hunting, Obtaining and Other Settings. Three buttons sit at the bottom: the cross closes the window, Initialization puts every setting back to its default, and Save Setting stores them. Nothing takes effect until Save Setting.

Step 1. Range, potions and walking back

The Hunting tab
The Hunting tab

Hunting tab, top block.

  • Range: how far the character strays after monsters. Two to four tiles works; more than that and it chases distant monsters and wanders off the place you put it.
  • Potion: the checkbox turns on automatic healing, and the Setting button beside it sets the HP threshold to drink at.
  • Long Distance Attack: strike from maximum range instead of closing in.
  • Original Position: walk back to the spot where the helper was started. The Distance field beside it is the delay before it does.

About that Distance field: it is labelled Min but counts in seconds. That is a mistake in the client's text, not in the behaviour - a 6 means six seconds, not six minutes. The same goes for the skills' Delay field.

Step 2. Skills, party and buffs

Hunting tab, middle block.

  • Basic Skill: the one skill the character attacks with continuously.
  • Activation Skill 1 and 2: two more skills. Tick Delay and set the seconds between switches.
  • Con and its Setting button: when to use them. You choose between hitting every monster in range and only the ones attacking you, and how many monsters have to gather before the skill fires.
  • Party: the helper works for the group, healing and buffing party members. The Setting button beside it tunes that.
  • Buff Duration: auto-buff with three slots. Drop the buff icons into the fields and each is refreshed as it runs out.

Here a character does not have to be given a skill at all: with empty slots it uses plain attacks. The original helper refused to start in that case.

Step 3. Picking things up

The Obtaining tab
The Obtaining tab

Obtaining tab.

  • Range: how far the character walks for a dropped item.
  • Repair Item: automatic equipment repair. Repairing through the helper costs more than a smith.
  • Pick All Near Items: take everything that lands nearby.
  • Pick Selected Items: take only what is ticked - Jewel, Set Item, Zen, Excellent Item.
  • Add Extra Item: your own items, matched on part of the name. Type a line, press Add; Delete removes one. You get 12 rows of your own.

The rows marked with a star are the server's shared list. It fills itself in, cannot be edited from the window, and everything on it is picked up regardless of the other checkboxes. Right now it holds the jewels: Bless, Soul, Life, Creation, Chaos, Guardian and Harmony.

Step 4. Other settings

The Other Settings tab
The Other Settings tab

Other Settings tab.

  • Auto accept - Friend: accept party invitations from friends automatically.
  • Auto accept - Guild Member: the same for guild members.
  • Use Elite Mana Potion: let the helper drink elite mana potions.
  • No attack: support mode. The character never attacks a monster at all - it only heals, buffs and picks things up. Useful for an elf in a party.

What it costs

The helper charges zen every 5 minutes: (level + master level) x a multiplier. The multiplier depends on how long it has run without a break - it starts at 20 and climbs every 3 hours 20 minutes through 50, 80, 100 and 120.

A level 400 character with no master level pays 8,000 zen per five minutes at the start and 48,000 at the last step. Run out of zen and the helper stops; reach the last step and it stops too - it will not run forever.
